Most modern television stands are now made from glass or plastic. However this may not suit some home decors. Glass and plastic TV stands can look out of place in homes with traditional designs or those with mostly wooden furniture. This can make your home entertainment systems stand out and seem a bit intrusive in the room. Another problem with transparent glass TV stands is that you will be able to see the cables. This can look at little untidy and you may prefer a design that will hide away any cables or additional equipment.
Wooden TV stands
Wooden TV stands are available in lots of different designs and finishes. You should be able to find a style that suits your existing wooden furniture which will help to maintain the harmony of your room design. Wooden TV stands can be made from a number of different woods including classic oak, maple, beech and pine. You can also get some very affordable laminate wooden TV stands. These come flat packed so you will have to put them together yourself but this can be a very cost effective way of displaying your home entertainment equipment.
Modern televisions are very lightweight and this means that laminate furniture will easily support their weight. However if you have an older television these could be very heavy and may cause laminate wooden TV stands to sag in the middle over time. If you do have an older style television make sure you buy a wooden TV stand that can support the weight effectively.
Wooden TV Cabinets
If you want to make sure all of the cables and television equipment is hidden away from sight you can get some attractive wooden TV cabinets. These solid pieces of furniture allow you to store away your television equipment and the doors open up at the front to allow you easy access. Typically you would place the television on top of most wooden TV cabinets, but you can get designs which will also house the television as well. This means you would open up the doors when you want to watch the television and then close them away to keep all of your television equipment out of sight when not in use.
Caring for Wooden TV Stands
Wooden TV stands are easy to care for and all you will need to do is polish them every now and then to keep them clean and free from dust. If you have solid wood furniture then you could treat them now and again with a deep polish and cleaning solution. These remove any dirt that has become embedded into the grain and also conditions the wood to keep it supple and flexible. Make sure you read the manufacturer's instructions carefully for any wood polishing equipment and make sure you test the product on a small area first before use.

What color furniture for brown sofa and blue accent color (a silver accessories)?
I recently purchased my first home. I bought a brown sofa and the accent color is a nice blue. There are also some silver accents throughout the area. The home has an open floor plan, so the kitchen sits off the dining area. The kitchen has light wood cabinets. I need a dining table and an entertainment center (flat screen tv stand w/ two towers). I saw a a black dining set and tv stand which I love, but wasn't sure if they would work with my color scheme. Or should I do dark wood for those pieces? let me know your thoughts!-
ANSWER:
i had a similar situation when moving into my apartment a month ago. i purchased a black tv stand and coffee table for my living room, but i ended up having to exchange it for a medium wood. it was nice furniture but it didn't correspond with apartment at all. to save you the trouble, i would stay away from the black and go for a more medium tone wood.good luck!!!

QUESTION:
Oh please help....with choosing color of curtains for living room?
OK, my entertainment center is a tv stand for flat screen and 2 towers (glass cabinets, dark antique wood almost black) decor is gesiha dolls, couple gold figures on top of towers hazelnut sectional (no pillows yet) with ottoman.I have a apartment so my dinning are (dark cherry wood table , tall bar like chairs) there is no separation between the two. The carpet is beige lighter than the couch..... what color curtains would be best? and type?-
ANSWER:
I am not a decorator but I would pick a bright color like red because it seems like the wood in your house is mostly dark and your furniture is neutral color so I think maybe red curtains and a few other red accent pieces would look good. Especially since you have some geisha dolls it would give it a little Asian feel. Maybe you could get some red pillows for the sectional to go with the red curtains. I think it would look nice.

QUESTION:
Living Room Ideas For decor?
I live in a cabin, all my walls except one are wood in my front room. I want to paint it a silver-gray color, something soft but not white. I have Hunter green carpet, recliners, and couch and love seat. I wanted to buy new black rod iron end tables with slate table tops so it will match my other furniture. I want to use the slate as my color pallet. Teal, blue, gray, brown, mauve.. My pictures have gold detailing on them with black frames, My flat screen and tv stand are black as well. I need curtain advice more than anything, I have one window that is big enough for two sets of two drapes probably, it is in the middle of the room on my big wooden wall and my couch sets in front of it. It's kind of like the focal point. to the left of the window I have a corner fire place that will be tiled with slate possibly, to the right of the windows I have my massive wooden staircase. What other decorating idea's could I use along with what kind of curtains. The wood is red wood I believe, has a reddish-golden-brown look to it lol. It doesn't have any varnish or stain it's all natural. Our style is more of a sophistocated light modern look I guess.

ANSWER:
This one is a toughie.I like slate as the palette. I'm a little concerned about the black / gold framed pics. Gold with silver-gray walls doesn't go together very well in my mind. With a light modern look, simplicity is the key so maybe solid black frames were be a better ideas. Are these framed art prints or another type of print where the frame cannot be changed? http://www.stylish-living-room-ideas.com/framed-wall-art.html
I don't know about the window as a focal point since you'll want slimmer, sleeker window treatments to keep with modern design principles. The potential slate tiled fireplace sounds like a better bet for the room's focal point to me.
For the window treatments, start with a sheer curtain to help regulate incoming light. My recommendation for draperies would be something that hangs very straight with uniform pleats. Use two full sets of drapes and consider a good old fashioned traverse rod. Mauve is the color that best unifies the furniture, flooring and wall color. http://www.stylish-living-room-ideas.com/curtain-ideas.html
The hunter green furniture with the same color carpet is also a concern. If you can't afford to rip the carpet out and go lighter, then consider an area rug in front of the sofa. Integrate the colors of the slate, but go a bit lighter and use a modern pattern. Adding throw pillows and/or blankets to the seating pieces will also add in some contrast.
Sounds like there's quite a bit of potential in this room and you already have a good vision for what you want to do so stick with it. I'm sure it will look awesome!

QUESTION:
What is your opinion about my dream?
my dream opened up with me in a house. i was standing between two
rooms in a doorway facing both rooms - one on my right and one on the
left. the one on the right had a room full of children - the one on
the left was a room of furnature, windows and a fire place - over the
fire place there was a screen (like a flat screen tv) and there was
something not good at all playing on the screen - As I stood there in
the doorway - without a physical door - I wondered why this was
playing within hearing and seeing distance of the children...that
part ended there.
Next, I was in the front of the house standing in what we would know
as the front yard. The house was old and appeared to have grey dry
wood. The door was in the middle of two double windows. There was a
porch with a swing on the left side. There were five steps and
railings. In the yard there were some children not two feet from me
in a go cart of some kind - made with ply wood in the shape of a card
board box and they were moving it by putting their feet on the
ground. The ground was mud and water - there was no grass or trees.
the color of everything except the house was different shades of
brown. I looked down the road and realized it was a neighborhood
with many houses all different from the one in front of me. There
was a road and even another road accross the street - the name on the
street sign was ransom. There was a woman on my left who at first
seemed to have walked up and layed down in the mud. I was shocked
that she was doing this but heard her say I had to go back. There
were no words just understanding of what was being said... I didn't
want to go back yet it began to happen- I began to draw back and then
found myself looking at myself in a cone of somekind in space but I
didn't have my body I was more like a fetus laying on my left side.
The 'cone' was in the shape of a beam of light you would see coming
out of a flashlight in the dark - yet the cone had no light it was
see through...except for a very light blue film that made the cone
shape... I knew I was looking at myself laying there...and then I saw
myself get up and look towards the end of the cone... that is the
only time I saw light... a very small amount but it was light. Then
I knew I thought- "I am not there yet, how long will it take?" I saw
myself lay back down and that is when I saw that I was in what
appeared to be outer space from the pictures we have of space. There
was blackness and stars and what seemed or felt to be a planet on my
left side but I never saw it. Then I was in my form laying down on
my left side and I felt a pull at the middle of my back and I knew
nothing else except trying to wake up in my bed. I was laying on my
left side and my body was numb... it was hard to wake up. I heard
this voice tell me where I had been was a 'place of healing' and 'it
took an hour and a half to get back' and the word - 'Andromeda' I
don't know how long it took for me to wake up and feel my body normal
maybe thirty minutes or so but when I did I looked at my partner and
said what is Andromeda? She went and looked it up on the computer
and said it was a galaxy. I looked at her and said, "I just came
from there." I was really freaked out because I really felt like I
had been 'somewhere' it was like remembering going to the store or
wherever and it being a real place a true experience. Since the
dream I have been 'led' if you will to research andromeda because I
had not known anything whatsoever about it, nor did I as a child ever
study space because I was in a private religious school. I have
also been 'told' upon waking on a different morning the
word 'wormhole' and have since been shocked at reading about
them...because I am convinced I was in one on my journey back. I am
a 45 year old woman who has never known anything much about space or
time travel or space time...or for that matter the planets however
since this dream a whole new world - our universe - has opened up to
me and I am amazed.
Anyway, I would appreciate anything anyone has to contribute.-
ANSWER:
well most dreams represent you not others, when a person dreams of a house this could represent you in the dream, it was dark grey house wooden old not being taken care of.....maybe this is how you see yourself, and the mud and water thing could represent kinda feeling stuck in your life not moving ahead....the universe and the space stuff could be all the beauty of the world outside of yourself that you have not discovered yet...or maybe all of it trying to tell you there is much more to life than this...the life we live day to day....open your mind to new possibilities....I think this dream is telling you to look beyond yourself spiritually...your dream sounds very mind opening to me and spiritual...anything about the universe is spiritual.
